This policy keeps the network fast and our IP ranges clean for every customer. It is part of our terms of service. Breaking it can lead to immediate suspension without a refund.
The short version
Use your server for your own lawful work. Do not use it to attack anyone, to send unsolicited mail, to host stolen or illegal material, or to consume so much of a shared resource that other customers suffer.
Never allowed
Illegal material. Child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, or anything else unlawful where you are or where the server is. We report this to the authorities and preserve evidence.
Attacks on others. Denial-of-service attacks, port scanning, vulnerability scanning of systems you do not own, brute-force or credential-stuffing attempts, exploitation, or any unauthorised access to another system.
Malware. Creating, hosting, distributing or controlling viruses, ransomware, keyloggers, botnets or command-and-control infrastructure.
Spam and unsolicited messaging. Bulk email to people who did not ask for it, mailing lists you did not build yourself, or anything that gets our IP ranges blacklisted.
Fraud. Phishing pages, fake shops or login pages, carding, testing stolen card or account details, identity theft, or impersonating a person or business.
Stolen or infringing content. Pirated software, media or licence keys, or material you do not have the right to distribute.
Resale without agreement. Reselling or sublicensing your server to third parties unless we have agreed it in writing.
Resource abuse
- Cryptocurrency mining is not permitted. Trading platforms, trading bots and automation are fine — mining is not, because it saturates shared hardware.
- Do not run Tor exit nodes or open proxies. They are the most common cause of an entire IP range being blacklisted.
- Do not run anything that deliberately consumes a disproportionate share of CPU, disk or network capacity and degrades service for others.
- Automated traffic must respect the target site's rules and the law.
Your security obligations
- Use a strong administrator password and change it from anything we issued.
- Keep Windows and your software patched. An unpatched server that is compromised and used to attack others is still your responsibility.
- Do not disable the security controls we apply at the network level.
What happens if this policy is broken
- Minor or accidental issues: we contact you and give you a chance to fix it.
- Serious, ongoing or unlawful activity: we suspend the service immediately, without notice and without a refund.
- We may preserve data, disclose it where legally required, and report criminal activity to the relevant authorities.
- We may access your server where necessary to investigate or contain a problem.
Reporting abuse
If something hosted with us is causing you a problem, email [email protected] with the IP address, timestamps and any logs you have. We investigate every report.
